James Pepper Henry was named the executive director of the First Americans Museum in 2017. As a member of the Kaw Nation with extensive museum expertise and historical knowledge, he’s a great fit to lead the museum into a successful future.
“The job that I have now is a dream job. I’ve been in the museum field for 37 years and worked at various museums around the country,” said Henry. “I am a member of one of the tribes here in Oklahoma…everything just kind of came together: my culture, who I am as a human being, and my experience as a museum director and professional. I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else right now.”
At August’s Chamber Forum, Henry provided special details about the museum’s facility and its remarkable contents.
